PhD student in Kinesiology
Roxy O’Rourke is a PhD student in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto, ON Canada working within the Mental Health and Physical Activity Research Centre. Roxy’s research, broadly, focuses on the relationship between mental health and physical activity in populations with chronic disabilities or diseases. For Roxy’s doctoral program, Roxy is looking to understand body-related self-conscious emotions in adolescent and young adult athletes with physical disabilities. Outside of academia, however, impacting research interests, Roxy is a distance runner, dance teacher, and retired dancer. Roxy applies her past experiences in sport to her research to optimize mental health outcomes for adolescent and youth athletes.
